| Information for song "El Grillo" | | | | |  | Madrigal By Josquin des Prez, which appears to be about a cricket, but actually it is a satirical song. One theory is that it`s about a cardinal, nicknamed the Cricket, whose sermons lasted as long as the cricket`s song and whose activities may have been unbecoming of a man of the cloth.
Another theory is that Josquin wrote it as a reminder to his patron that musicians` pay was overdue - they cannot sing just for love
